Skis by the brand GERMINA
The skis by the brand GERMINA are 153 cm long, made of curved wood and have metal bindings. They are red with blue stripes and include the inscription “GERMINA”, as well as its logo at their tips. The underside is smoothly polished for good downhill gliding. To facilitate transportation, the skis are firmly fixed to each other using a wooden clasp. Skiing was a popular leisure activity in the GDR. The necessary equipment was provided by VEB Kombinat Sportgeräte Germina in Schmalkalden. It produced all kinds of sports equipment for individual use, as well as for schools and elite athletes. Skis were an especially high-quality product. By 1989, approximately 700,000 pairs were produced a year, their quality matching those on the international market.
